This publication reflects discussions from a workshop aimed at addressing the developmental marginalization of Eastern Sudan.

Key Issues:

• Marginalization: Despite housing maritime ports and fertile land, the region suffers from poverty, famine, and exclusion.
• Precarious Peace: The 2006 Eastern Sudan Peace Agreement (ESPA) ended hostilities but left underlying causes unaddressed.
• Nairobi Declaration: A call for change in governance, wealth sharing, and security strategies to prevent a recurrence of war.
